Kumi, San Francisco 1996 - This was the second shoot I did with Kumi - the first one was the Chinatown shoot with Midori. The shoot was organized by Molly who owned and designed for So Hip It Hurts latex. This is a scaled down version of a new one-gigabyte scan from the the original negative. The image originally appeared in my first book The Beauty of Fetish (Edition Stemmle). Photographed with the Mamiya 645 as usual.

Goedde Details: Masuimi and Kumi, Los Angeles 2000 - I never crop my photographs because I believe in composing at the time of exposure. However, sometimes there are little elements I like in photographs that don’t work as a whole. This is what the Goedde Details series is for me. Discarded elements brought to life in a new context.

Kumi, Santa Monica 2004 - An unpublished photo of Kumi from a shoot we did in a friend’s backyard in Santa Monica. She’s wearing houndstooth House of Harlot latex overalls. Shot with my Mamiya 645 with Tmax 400 film.Sorry for the extra large watermark. I’m getting more and more frustrated by the inconsiderate jerks out there who steal art, strip off watermarks, redistribute, and don’t even credit their sources.

Kumi, San Francisco 2000 - This photo was originally published in my second book The Beauty of Fetish: Volume II (Edition Stemmle).  Kumi and I shot this when she lived on Oak St. in San Francisco.  I can’t remember what inspired the decision to wear a motorcycle racing suit with stilettos, but we both loved the result. www.stevedietgoedde.com

Kumi, San Francisco 1996One of my older, classic photos of Kumi. This was part of a shoot that I did for my friend Molly’s latex company So Hip It Hurts. I think this was the second shoot I did with Kumi. The first was the Chinatown shoot where I met both her and Midori for the first time. I don’t remember what kind of car it was, but we shot it in a convertible. I was sitting in the driver’s seat and Kumi was on the hood plastered against the windshield. This is one of the shots that got my work noticed right away. Within a month, it was included in my feature spread in Italian photography magazine ZOOM. Two years later, it would be reproduced in my first book The Beauty of Fetish (Edition Stemmle).

A flashback to another older photo of mine. Kumi and I shot this one very cold morning on a San Francisco pier. In between takes, she wrapped herself in a long coat and sucked on some hot tea. Latex sailor suit by So Hip It Hurts.
