Ray Manzarek, Los Angeles 1998 - Sorry to hear of the passing of Ray Manzarek. I had the pleasure of taking his portrait back in 1998. He was a very cool, pleasant man to hang with. After the Doors, he further cemented his coolness when he teamed up with X for their first two albums. Thanks, Ray.

Gina Velour, Los Angeles 1998 - This was shot at the Monastery of the Angels (an actual old monastery now converted into apartments) up in the Hollywood hills. It was a cold January day, and Marne Lucas (AKA Gina Velour) had wanted to shoot in the pool because she has this ‘thing’ for water. Unfortunately the day proved to be a bit too cold, so she reluctantly posed next to the pool instead of in it. The photo originally appeared in my second book “The Beauty of Fetish: Volume II” (Edition Stemmle).

Goedde Details: Masuimi and Kumi, Los Angeles 2000 - I never crop my photographs because I believe in composing at the time of exposure. However, sometimes there are little elements I like in photographs that don’t work as a whole. This is what the Goedde Details series is for me. Discarded elements brought to life in a new context.
