Yolanda was also the cover model for the book. Photographed with the Mamiya 645 with god only knows what kind of film at the time but probably Fuji something or other. UPDATE: video footage of the making of this photo can be seen on my PeepTV segment.  The Yolanda footage is at both the beginning and ending of the video piece.

Ozzy the Cat 1992-2010 - Yesterday I had to say goodbye to my old buddy Ozzy after 18 years of companionship. Ozzy has been with me almost as long as I’ve been doing the kind of photography I’m known for. He witnessed (and interrupted!) a lot of photoshoots, but no one minded because everyone loved him, and he gave it back. Above is an example of him hamming it up with my then-girlfriend Miss Conduct.

Ivy Red, Costa Mesa CA 2001 - Ivy and I shot this in a hotel room in Costa Mesa back in 2001. I had borrowed a friend’s new Nikon E990 digital camera and thought I’d give it a shot. I remember this was one of the first digital photographs I took where I thought that maybe these new digital cameras could actually produce some semi-decent looking photographs. Nine years later, however, I’d have to say that film gives me the most rewarding results. It’s just such an integrated part of my style.

Justine Joli, Los Angeles 2006

Justine fabulously wears a Syren latex ensemble.  Justine and I had known each other for years but never actually shot anything until about 6 years after initially meeting. Sometimes shoots just take a while to happen. We shot this at my buddy Dave Naz’s house in Laurel Canyon. Justine was standing against an outdoor glass sliding door, and I had to get very narrow and thin so you couldn’t see my reflection behind her in the window.  After this personal shoot, I started shooting her regularly for Stockroom/Syren.

Racine, Las Vegas 2000

I went to Vegas with my good friend/collaborator Marne Lucas (AKA Gina Velour) for the 2000 AVN convention. Racine, who lived in Marne’s hometown of Portland, joined us for the visit. We shacked up in one of the last ’60s era motels on the strip, the La Concha. The motel was eventually demolished to make room for the Wynn. A complete shame.
